Swing and a Miss: VTuber Suspended for Sarcastic Baseball Tweets

Virtual YouTuber (VTuber) producer Nijisanji has suspended one of their livers, Gundo Mirei, after she made some sarcastic tweets about baseball that offended fans of the sport. That's right, folks, in the age of cancel culture, even virtual YouTubers are not safe from the wrath of outraged fans!

In her tweet thread, Mirei questioned the rules of baseball and made some suggestions on how the game could be improved. For example, she suggested that if everyone hit home runs, it would be easier to clean up the balls. She also proposed making the ball slanted like a golf ball, so it would come back to the first shot or making the stadium smaller.

But it was one particular tweet that really got fans riled up. Mirei suggested that baseball players might throw the ball with the intent to injure. This was seen as an insult to the integrity of the athletes at the WBC, and fans took to social media to voice their displeasure.

As a result, ANYCOLORS, the company behind Nijisanji, released a statement apologizing for Mirei's tweets and suspending her indefinitely. Ouch! That's gotta hurt for Mirei, who has been a part of Nijisanji since she debuted in 2019.

Some fans are split on the decision, with some feeling that a suspension is too drastic a punishment, while others think it doesn't go far enough. It just goes to show that in the world of virtual YouTubers, you never know what will set off a firestorm of controversy.

In their statement, ANYCOLORS emphasized their commitment to compliance and stated that they will conduct training on compliance for their livers. So, if you're a virtual YouTuber, beware! The virtual cancel culture is alive and well.

All in all, it's a tough lesson for Mirei and a reminder that words have consequences. Let this be a cautionary tale to all those out there who think that social media is a playground where they can say whatever they want. Think twice before you hit that tweet button, folks!
